Krasnodar transport prosecutor’s office investigates BERIL bulk-carrier sinking

Krasnodar transport prosecutor’s office verifies fulfillment of legislation requirement related to prevention of accidents in vessels upon the traffic accident that took place in the Azov Sea. The situation is controlled by South transport prosecutor’s office, press-service of the office reported.

As per the earlier information, two foreign vessels collided in the Azov Sea about 50 marine miles away from the shore in the fairway channel between Caucasus port and Yeysk port today at 7:57 a.m. As PortNews IAA learnt from the RF Ministry of transport, Turkish motor-vessel Santa-Victoria and BERIL bulk-carrier (flying the flag of Sierra-Leone). BERIL sank on his trip ex Rostov to Turkey. The depth in the arear of the accident is about 11 m. No victims. Russian Federation Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Response is getting ready for the possible oil spill response in the accident area. There was no oil spill found as of the latest information.
