Shenzhen container volume falls 18pc in first 10 months

Shenzhen port handled 14.8 million TEU in the first 10 months, down 18 per cent and narrowing one per cent over the first nine months, reports Xinhua.
The port's cargo throughput declined 13 per cent year on year to 157 million tonnes in the first 10 months, coupled with a civic freight volume of 180 million tonnes, up 13.9 per cent.
Shenzhen Airport's mail volume declined 3.5 per cent while its passenger volume increased 13.8 per cent. The city's passenger transport volume also fell 5.5 per cent to 1.21 billion people with a turnover of 44.72 billion passengers per kilometre.
