The volumes of transshipment by the members of association of the international transport-forwarding organisations of Japan (JIFFA) in the first half of the year 2009 (April - September) dropped to 16,2 % in comparison with the according period of 2008, the JIFFA press release said.
Export of members of the association fell 26,9 % - to 12,052 million tons in April-September. Import volumes down 8,7 % to 21,423 million tons.
Trade with China also was hit and the volume dropped 0,7 % to 14,178 million tons, trade with Hong Kong reduced to 19,6 % and made 3,306 million tons, trade with Europe - 22,7 % to 2,881 million tons, the decline in the trade turnover with the USA -35 % to 2,749 million tons.
JIFFA merged in 1981, at least 367 companies are members of JIFFA.
