Pirates release Greek-owned cargo ship

Officials say Somalia pirates have released a Greek-owned cargo ship and its 19-member crew after holding them for two months.
A spokeswoman at the Greek maritime ministry says the Greek captain and 18 Filipino crew members of the Navios Apollon are doing well. They were released Saturday afternoon.
The spokeswoman said Sunday that the ship, held by the pirates since Dec. 28, was released after an unspecified ransom was air-dropped into the vessel.
The ship was seized off the Seychelles and had been headed to Thailand.
Piracy is one of the few ways to make money in Somalia which is torn apart by civil war. The Somali government can't send forces to counter the flourishing pirate bases that dot its 1,900-mile (3,100-kilometer) coastline.
