BaltTehProm LLC is planning to have built a diversified seaport by 2016 in the Kaliningrad region in the Baltic industrial park. The port project will include a container terminal of handing capacity of up to 880.000 TEUs a year at the roro berths, Viktor Larin, the BaltTehProm executive manager said in an interview with journalists at the "Port Infrastructure of the North-West: From Design to Operation" conference.
The new port is meant fro transshipping cargoes, in the amount of 220.000 tons of pellets a year, delivered from the BaltTehProm factory and Alco-Nafta CJSC (in management of a Mari refineries owner). In future the port may handle petrochemical goods as well.
BaltTehProm official said the company would invest in the 15-20m-euro port project 60%-70% of its own funds.
The new port terminal will be open year-round for 20.000-dwt ships.
This year the major investor is to develop the design and construction documents and to begin the construction of the port, in 2013 – the first project phase is to be launched, in 2017 – the terminal will reach its full capacity output.
Deutsche Bank provides financial consultation for the project. Hamburg Port Consulting is the technical Consultant.
