The new port is meant fro transshipping cargoes, in the amount of 220.000 tons of pellets a year, delivered from the BaltTehProm factory and Alco-Nafta CJSC (in management of a Mari refineries owner). In future the port may handle petrochemical goods as well.
BaltTehProm official said the company would invest in the 15-20m-euro port project 60%-70% of its own funds.
The new port terminal will be open year-round for 20.000-dwt ships.
This year the major investor is to develop the design and construction documents and to begin the construction of the port, in 2013 – the first project phase is to be launched, in 2017 – the terminal will reach its full capacity output.
Deutsche Bank provides financial consultation for the project. Hamburg Port Consulting is the technical Consultant.
BaltTehProm is based in the special economic zone and is one of the major industrial investors in the Baltic industry facilities.
