Finnlines expects positive result in 2010

After loss figures in the 2009 balance sheet the management of Finnlines Group expects a positive result for the Group in 2010. Structural measures have been initiated to significantly reduce the costs and increase synergies and economics of scale within the Grimaldi Group. Finnlines has adjusted the capacity in the fleet by the redelivery of time chartered vessels, enabling the remaining fleet to be employed in a much more efficient way.
Finnlines’ reduced cargo volumes reflect the decrease in Finland’s foreign trade. During 2009 Finnlines carried 596,000 cargo units compared to 814,000 in 2008. The revenue of Finnlines Group totalled EUR 494,4 million in 2009, which is a decline of 33 per cent compared to 2008. The result before taxes was negative by EUR 51.4 million.
