Rosgranitsa regulates border checkpoints procedure at Temryuk and Kavkaz seaports

Coordinating Board has approved passports of Russia’s border checkpoints at the seaports of Kavkaz and Temryuk (Krasnodar Territory), amended the procedure of flow of individuals, vehicles, commodities and animals at these checkpoints, in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Transport of Russia on December 22, 2009 (N247), the press service of Rosgranitsa (Russian Border Federal Agency) said.

In addition, the Agency Board was focused on optimization of the border and customs procedures for ferries operating Kavkaz-Crimea lines.

Port of Kavkaz is situated between the Azov and the Russian Black Sea coast. The 4.5-m-deep harborage allows handling river boats and seagoing ships (offshore). The port’s loading berths facilities are intended for handling bulked cargoes (mineral fertilizers, concentrates of various ores, grain) as well as general, timber, and containerized commodities. In 2009 shipment volumes via the port of Kavkaz reached 8.1 million tons and 2.500 ships were handled at the port.

Temryuk seaport is located on the Taman shore of the Azov Sea. The port maintains and operates its 1200-m-length berths with loading facilities. The port handles primarily general cargoes, round timber, lumber, metal, as well as bulky goods and food.  In 2009 the port authorities reported 2.117 million tons of handled volumes, a 8.2 percent drop from 2008.
