NovoShip adds NS Bora Suezmax to its fleet

Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industries has delivered NS Bora, 156.800-dwt tanker to Novorossiysk Shipping OJS Company (NovoShip OJSC, part of SovComFlot Group) on March 31, 2010. The ship is the second of four Suezmax tankers ordered at the Chinese shipyard in accordance with program SovComFlot is running to upgrade its fleet, the company’s press-service said.

The Suezmax ships are the largest tankers in the fleet of the Novorossiysk Shipping Company. The contract turns to be the first cooperation with Chinese shipbuilders for Novoship. The new tanker meets all modern international standards in the field of maritime safety and environmental protection, the company said.

Supervising the construction Lloyd's Register has certified NS Bora Environmental Protection class of safety. The ship received Green Passport, a document certifying the environmental safety of the materials used for making the tanker.

Basic parameters of NS Bora: length - 274.5 m, width - 48 m. depth – 23.7 m, the full draft - 17 m, max speed - 15 knots. The tanker will carry on board three types of cargoes 23 crew members.

The first ship of the series was delivered on Oct. 28, 2009.

Sovcomflot says its tanker fleet average age is 6.8 years, almost twofold below the world’s average standard. The Group’s upgrade program includes 11 vessels with total deadweight of 1 million tons.
