Oil shipment via Batumi Terminal Q1 up 35.1%, to 1.8 million tons

The volume of oil and oil products transshipped through Batumi Oil Terminal (BOT, Georgia) in the 1st quarter of 2010 increased by 35.1% as compared with the same period in 2009, up to 1 million 804.7 thousand tons, RZD-Partner.Ru reports citing the BOT Company statement. The spike in volumes, the company said, was thanks to the more crude oil volumes, 1.589.700 tons, or 42.6% over Q1, 2009. In Q1, 2010 the BOT Company handled 43.000 tons of LNG, a twofold surge, and 23.700 tons of naphtha.

The BOT has seen a 25.2 percent cutback in other petroleum products volumes, at 148.200 tons in Q1,2010. In particular, gasoline fell by 8% - to 56.8 thousand tons, diesel fuel - by 41.9%, to 28.4 thousand tons, kerosene - in 2.5 times, to 17.1 thousand tons.

In March 2010, there was a 11.2% in the volume of oil and oil products over Mar.,2009, to 620.400 tons.

Since February 2008, the Batumi Oil Terminal has been owned by KazMunaiGaz, Kazakhstan national oil company. KMG’s subsidiary company acquired the terminal’s assets, as well as the right to manage the Batumi seaport from Greenoak Holdings, an International Investment Group. The volume of oil and oil products via BO Terminal in 2009 dropped by 10.3% year-over-year, to 6 million 414.1 thousand tons.
