Dutch bulker slams into a pier at Alexandria port

A Dutch bulk cargo carrier ran into the pier yesterday at the port of Alexandria in Egypt, RIA Novosti reports citing the Port Authority.

The incident occurred during a de-berthing operation. As a result the ship was seriously damaged, the port facilities as well.

Attorney General's Office began an investigation into the incident, arrested the vessel, which was coal laden bound for Cyprus. Investigators intend to evaluate the damage caused to the port facilities.
