This March the Far East Railroad demonstrated volumes gain in all major commodities: coal, by 26.3%, to 1.3 million tons, petroleum products - 890.7 thousand tons (+2.5%), timber cargoes - 527.200 tons (+0.7%), imports – 270.000 tons (+27.3%). The Railroad reported a 62.1% spike in scrap volumes, 23.500 tons. The scrap shipments rose thanks to demand for scrap metal, as well as export growth.
Far East Railroad (DVZD) passes through five Russian Federation regions (Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territory), Amur and Jewish Autonomous Regions, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)). The Far East Railroad’s assets include: Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Komsomolsk, Tyndinskoe lines, 361 railyards, 2 border crossings (Grodekovo with China, Hasan with North Korea). In 2009 DVZD carried 38 million 219 thousand tons of commodities.
