CPV’s throughput up 1.6 times, to 1.77m tons, Q1, 2010

Trade volumes through Commercial Port of Vladivostok (CPV OJSC) in January-March 2010 rose as much as 1.6 times as compared with the same period last year, to 1 million 773.9 thousand tons, the stevedore statement said.

In the first quarter this year CPV Company handled 1 million 172.5 thousand tons of outbound commodities, 256.9 thousand tons of inbound and 344.6 thousand tons of coastal trade.

Commercial Port of Vladivostok transshipped 68.258 TEUS of containerized cargoes (Q1, 2010), including 25.819 TEUs of exported cargoes, imports – 18.407 TEUs and cabotage – 24.320 TEUs.

This March total freight volumes by CPV reached 588.200 tons. The stevedoring company handled 370.200 tons of exports, 97.400 tons of imports and 120.600 tons of coastal trade. In March Vladivostok port handled 24.218 TEUs of containers, 9.325 TEUs of outbound containers, 6.600 TEUs of inbound, cabotage – 8.887 TEUs, the Company press service said.

Outbound commodities heavily added to the overall freight volumes in the reporting period, says Sergei Lopunov, Production Director of CPV. Exports increased by 54%, including coke and metal products volumes. The export and import containers also showed a 52% surge. Shipment of imported autos and machinery rose by 40% from Q1, 2009, Mr. Lopunov said.

Vladivostok Commercial Seaport OJSC holds and manages assets at the Port of Vladivostok, one of the largest seaports in the Russia’s Far East. CPV operates 17 berths, including the specialized ones - container, passenger, and automobile. CPV is part of the FESCO Transport Group. Last year’s throughput of the stevedoring company rose by 4.9% year-over-year, to 6.205.100 tons of commodities. M-Port holds 95.6% of ordinary shares in CPV OJSC.
