Passenger Port of St. Petersburg "Marine Façade" will be able to transport and provide services for 385.000 tourists this season, Marine Façade Port press release said correcting earlier reported data.
This year 226 ships are expected to call at St. Petersburg, including S-Continental line ships. The first call of Queen Maria ferry is expected at the port on July 2nd.
In 2009 Marine Façade Passenger Port saw 245.000 passengers and 115 ships (97% of the first phase maximum capacity).
As of April 6th Marine Façade Port Authority said there had been 250 ship calls. River navigation at the Marine Façade is scheduled for May 15th to end on September 15th.
The construction of Marine Façade Passenger Port of St. Petersburg began in 2006 to be carried out in three phases. The first phase of the project meant construction of two berths, a cruise terminal building and onshore facilities. In September 2008, the first ship docked at the port.
The third construction phase is under way, scheduled to be completed in 2010. The Port’s projected facilities will allow accommodation of cruise and ferry vessels up to 311-m length, of maximum draft of 9 m that could dock at 7 berths. The projected length of the quay wall is 2.108 meters. The approach canals will be 10 km long and 11 meters deep.
