Throughput of Murmansk Port down 12%, to 3.34m tons in Q1 2010

In the first quarter 2010 (Q1,2010) trade flows through Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC shrank by 12% as compared with Q1, 2009, to 3.339 million tons, PortNews IAA reports citing the company’s provisional data.

Murmansk Commercial Seaport, an open joint stock company was founded in 1994. MCP has been the fourth largest Russia’s port in freight volumes. The company’s 3.000m-long 17 berths deep enough for 265m-long, 15.5m-draft ships to dock for loading, offloading operations. In 2009 the stevedoring company handled 15.1 million tons of cargoes. Cyprus Specialized Project Investments BV holds 63.53% of ordinary stocks in Murmansk CSP. The Russian Govt. owns a 34% stake in the company.
