Cargo volumes via Tuapse Port up 19%, to 5m tons, Q1,10

Freight traffic passing through Tuapse Commercial Seaport OJSC in the 1st quarter of 2010 (Q1, 2010) reached 5 million tons of cargoes, up 19% from Q1, 2009.
In the first three months this year TCSP handled 3.8 million tons of petroleum products, a12-percent growth over the same period in 2009, dry cargo volumes were also up by 34%, to 1.2 million tons, the Company statement said.

Of imported commodities a threefold increase was in bulk cargoes, particularly sugar. In outbound cargoes coal showed a strong trend (+13.8%). Export of 253.000 tons of grain via the Grain Terminal launched this early February made up a threefold surge over the last year’s exports.

In Q1, 2010, the Tuapse Port stevedore handled 215 ships (including 104 at the oil port area, 111 at dry cargo berths), and 17.200 railroad cars.

Tuapse Commercial Sea Port (TCSP OJSC) is the major stevedore at one of the largest Russian ports, the seaport of Tuapse. Universal Cargo Logistics Holding BV (UCLH) holds a 69.52% stake in TCSP Company.
