In the first quarter of 2010 Port of Tallinn has seen 5 million 725.7 thousand tons of liquid bulk cargoes, a 6.4% drop as compared with January-March 2009. Dry cargoes demonstrated the largest increase, as much as 2.1 times, at 1 million 482.4 thousand tons. There were 1.588 ship calls at the port in Q1,2010, 6.5-percent below January-March 2009 to 6,5% - to 1,588 units.
Port of Tallinn is rated the third largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg and Primorsk, of the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbour, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2009 freight traffic via Tallinn seaport totaled 31.597.000 tons.
