Strong sandstorm closes the Suez Canal ports

The Egyptian authorities have been forced to close the ports at the entrance to the Suez Canal and the Sinai Peninsula main highway because of the strong sandstorm. Dust and sand, raised in the air, reduced visibility almost to zero, the wind caused 3.5m rough seas,  Newsland reports.
 
Mahmoud Diraz, the head of the ports authorities said he had ordered the closure of the ports Tawfiq and Ayn Suhna at the southern entrance to the Suez Canal.

El Arish Port has been reportedly closed in the northern Sinai, the agency said.
