Long Beach Port's container trade up 15.9%, 1.2m TEUs in Q1,2010

Container throughput (total trade) at the Port of Long Beach (USA) in the first quarter of 2010 (Q1, 2010) increased by 15.9% as compared with the same period of 2009, to 1.264.714 TEUs. The figures include 632.483 TEUs of inbound containers, 366.901 TEUs of outbound and 265.330 of empties. In March, the volume of handled containers rose by 13%, to 422.775 TEUs, the Port Authority press release said.

Long Beach is the largest port of the Pacific coast of the USA, the second-busiest seaport in the United States. Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach form together the U.S. port area, one of the world’s biggest hub. Last year, the Port's container total trade reached 5 million TEUs.
