Hong Kong’s containers throughput is up 18.1%, to 5.46m TEUs in Q1 2010

Containers total trade in January-March 2010 at Hong Kong port increased by 18.1% ,compared with the same period in 2009, to 5.46 million TEUs, the Port Authority statement said.
 
In March, container counts rose by 11.4% from March 2009, to 1.862 million TEUs.

Port of Hong Kong is one of the largest ports in the world. Last year Hong Kong port posted a year-over-year 14.6% drop, to 20.9 million TEUs. The Port’s capacity allows handling 456.000 ships a year.
