Mechel-Trans plans to boost Posiet’s output to 7m tons by early 2012

Mechel-Trans LLC, a manager of Commercial Port of Posiet, has projected to increase the freight volumes by the stevedoring company to 7 million tons. MT also bids to upgrade by early 2012 the Port’s facilities to accommodate 70-dwt ships at the Posiet’s berths. The Company is starting the upgrade program this year, Goudok newspaper reports quoting Managing Director of Mechel-Trans Alexander Starodubov.

According to this year’s plan the company is carrying out construction works and supply of cargo handling equipment from ThyssenKrupp.

Port Posiet is open for Russian and foreign flagged ships. It is linked with the Trans-Siberian Railroad, which allows the import of goods from anywhere in the country. The deep-water berths allow 9.5-m-draft vessels to dock at the Port. Mechel-Trans LLC holds 96.9421% of ordinary shares in Commercial Port Posiet OJSC.
