FCC’s volumes up 1.5 times, to 65.7m tons in Q1,2010

Freight shipments by First Cargo Company (PCC OJSC, a Russian Railways subsidiary) in the first quarter of 2010 (Q1,10) rose as much as 1.5 times from Q1, 2009, to 65.7 million tons, the Company’s  press release said.

In Q1, 2010 FCC showed a strong gain in almost all categories of commodities carrying 21.9 million tons of coal (+55.3%), 18.9 million tons of oil products (+19%), 5.7 million tons of ore (+83.9 %), 4.3 million tons of ferrous metals (+207.1%), 2 million tons of timber (+25.8%), 2.8 million tons of building materials (-3.4%), 1.5 million tons of chemical and mineral fertilizers (+36.4%), 1.9 million tons of cement (+26.6%).

In the first quarter of 2010 the Company contributed 21.4% to overall freight traffic by Russian Railways (+5% over the same period last year).

Freight Cargo Company is the largest Russian railroad operator. Russian Railways, RZD holds major stake in FCC. The FCC portfolio of assets includes over 200.000 units of rolling stock. The company's share in the structure of the Russia’s rolling stock of Russia makes up 21%. In 2009, the FCC hauled over 230 million tons of commodities.
