Gothenburg upholds Govt's fees cut proposal for onshore power supply of vessels

Port Authority of Gothenburg (Sweden) supported the Government's proposal to reduce fees charged for onshore power supply for ships, PortNews IAA reports citing the Port Authority. The authorities have been lobbing for the proposal for a long time.

The port of Gothenburg offers free access to the onshore power for ships conducting operations with Ro-ro cargoes and ferry services within 12 months.

Gothenburg is the largest North Europe’s port located at the mouth of the River Göta. In 2009 trade flows via Port of Gothenburg dropped by 8.8%  to 39.483 million tons. The port's container counts shrank by 5.2% to 817. 616 TEUs.
