Russian tanker fined $700 for oil spill at Batumi Port

Russian tanker Saratov City, owned by Volgotanker Ltd. was arrested in the port of Batumi (Georgia) after she discharged crude oil at the Port’s terminal over oil spill case, PortNews IAA reports with reference to the press service of Russian Ministry of Transport.
 
The tanker was detained to investigate into the spill case by the local Coast Guard  and a representative of P & I Club (the insurer of the carrier). The Georgian authorities  have filed a case with the court to fine the ship’s owner to pay $700. The tanker rides currently at anchor in Batumi harbor.
