Cargo volumes via TRANSINVESTSERVICE up 3.8 to some 2.9m tons, Q1,10

Freight traffic through the terminal of TRANSINVESTSERVICE LLC (a stevedore operating at the state-owned Yuzhny Port of Ukraine) increased in the first quarter by 3.8% compared with Q1, 2009, to 2 million 890.268 tons, PortNews IAA reported with reference to the press service of the company. The total reported figures include 1 million 33.192 tons of coal, or as much as 6.5 times more than in Q1,09. Handled first-quarter volumes of iron ore (743.240 tons) show a nearly 19% drop from the same period of 2009. There was also a 2.35-fold slump in grain volumes, at 507.140 tons.

TRANSINVESTSERVICE LLC operates piers NN15-22 at the Port of Yuzhny of capacity of over 25 million tons a year. In 2009 the Company’s throughput was reported at 12 million tons.
