Russian FCS establishes a Pushkinsky post of Baltic Customs

Federal Customs Service of Russian Federation (FCS) has issued an order establishing the Pushkinsky customs post of the Baltic Customs from April 26, 2010, the FCS press service said.

The new customs post is to improve the operations of North-West Federal District Customs Authorities and normalize the situation in St. Petersburg.

Earlier reports said the FCS had imposed authority restrictions at the Vyborg and Piskarevsky customs posts of St. Petersburg Customs, ensured as a result of numerous abuse and bribe case, along with other factors, that had caused huge delays of trucks at the posts.

The new customs post will focus on the customs clearance of spare parts imported for car makers factories of Nissan, Toyota, GM, etc. The Pushkinsky Customs Office is expected to implement state-of-the-art technologies for customs formalities, web-based declarations, "dry ports", "remote processing".

Imported spare parts for automobiles make up approximately 8-10% of the total volume of cargoes being processed at St. Petersburg customs posts. To boost the procedure for cargo clearance Russian FCS dispatched 63 officers and civilian employees.

The Pushkinsky Customs post will be located at St. Petersburg, Village of Shushary, Moscow Road, #54.

As of now, there are several customs offices operating in St. Petersburg, including Shusharsky, Yuzhny, Krasnoselskiy, South-West and Gatchina customs posts. Customs Posts of Viborg, Kingiseppsky, Pskov, Novgorod and Sebezhsk of the North-West Customs Directorate are authorized to carry out customs clearance of goods (12-hour shift).
