Hamburg Sud to increase U.S.-Europe rates

Hamburg Süd announced Friday that it will apply a general rate increase on June 1 to all cargo moving from U.S. West Coast ports and Vancouver to Europe.
Space has been tight on this trade lane and hard to get, according to U.S. exporters.
The German carrier said it will increase freight rates on tariff cargo as well as on cargo moving under existing service contracts by $150 per 20-foot container equivalent and $300 per 40-foot container equivalent.
