FINCANTIERI posts a 9% cutback in profit for 2009, at $26,6m

Fincantieri, the largest Italian shipbuilding company reported its operative results, approved by the Board of Directors of the Company, show the Italian shipbuilder has had a year-over-year 9-percent drop in net income, totaling $26,6 million. Revenues reached $166,26m (-11.3%), the Transport Business reports citing the Company's press release.

In 2009 the Company’s portfolio of orders reached $2,39bn, vs $3,3bn a year earlier.

Fincantieri Group, founded in 1959, is one of the best known shipbuilding companies worldwide. The Company’s HQ is located in Trieste, Italy. The company is engaged in designing and construction of commercial, passenger and naval vessels, in addition to repair and ship conversion, but also produces diesel engines and mechanical components.
