Cargo turnover at Port of Sillamae up 2.5% to 750ths tons in Q1

The first-quarter throughput of Silport, Port of Sillamae (Estonia) rose by about 2.5% from Q1, 2009 to 750,000 tons, PortNews IAA reports quoting Andrei Birov, Sillamae Port’s Marketing Director, who has been visiting TransRussia Expo in Moscow.

Port of Sillamae (Silport) JSC is a 100% owned Estonian-Russian joint venture. The port area covering more than 650 hectares is privately owned. Silmet Group (Estonia) holds its 50% stake in the Silport, the rest 50% stocks are owned by Russian entrepreneurs. In 2009 trade volumes via Port Sillamae rose as much as 1.5 times, to 2.5 million tons.
