Ust-Luga Port expects to launch a Yug handling facility this July

According to Elena Kuzmina, Chief of the Commercial Department at the Port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad region), the second phase of a multi-purpose handling complex "Yug (South) 2"  is scheduled to be launched in July 2010, RZD-Partner.Ru agency reports citing Interfax.

The Q1 statistics show the automobile handling facility, of projected annual capacity of the 1st phase at 160ths autos, has transshipped 4,000 imported cars, primarily Toyota and Lexus, assembled in EU, Mrs. Kuzmina said, adding she expects the first phase autos handling complex to transship about 12ths cars this year.

Yug-2 Multi-purpose Handling Complex is designed for the handling of Ro-Ro cargoes, new imported cars, containers and general cargoes. The MHC Y2 facility total area is 97.8 ha. The total length of the waterfront piers is 1000 m. At the completion the Y2 handling facility is expected to offload, store and handling 4.6 million tons of cargoes a year. The designed capacity of the car terminal is 450ths new autos a year.
