LUKOIL extracts first oil from the Caspian field

The first oil from the field of Yuri Korchagin in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea has been extracted by LUKOIL Company. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin participated in the ceremony at the launch of the field, LUKOIL press release said.

The field was discovered by LUKOIL in 2000. The field reserves under 3P exceed 270 million barrels. The maximum output level: crude oil - 2.5 million tons, gas - 1 billion m³ annually. From 2004 through 2009 the Company had invested in the field 34.4 billion rubles. LUKOIL sees 343,000 tons of produced oil by the end of this year.

The field oil drilling rig consists of ice-resistant offshore platform (LFA-1) with the drilling complex lift capacity of 560 tons for drilling wells to 7,400 meters, offshore stationary platform (LFA-2) for workers, an underwater pipeline, a floating crude storage with deadweight of 28,000 tons, with a crew of 25. Floating crude oil storage tank is installed outside of the ice area of the Caspian Sea.

The crude oil produced at the drilling oil rig will be transported by shuttle tankers of deadweight ranged from 6,000 to 12,000 tons
