New head of Russia’s GosMorSpasSluzhba is appointed

Yevgeny Baryshev has been appointed the head of Russia’s GosMorSpasSluzhba, the State Marine Emergency and Rescue Coordination Service. According to PortNews IAA, Mr. Baryshev took the office in mid-April.

Earlier, Yevgeny Baryshev headed the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Rescue State Agency.

Marine Rescue Service is the system of govt. agencies responsible for search-and-rescue operations of people in distress at sea, assistance to the emergency vessels, OSR at sea, servicing oil drilling rigs, towing operations, underwater engineering, diving operations and construction. GosMorSpasSluzhba is the state-run agency responsible for the implementation of the Russian Federation commitments to the SAR International Conventions, assisting ships in distress, spill oil response, as well as several regional and bilateral International agreements.
