Kuwait Oil Tankers Company (KOTC) plans to enter the field of transferring petrochemical products soon through purchase of between four to eight tankers specially equipped for such cargo, said Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Oil Tankers Company Nabil Bouresli. Special studies for acquisition of the tankers are currently being reviewed at the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), the umbrella company of the KOTC, pending final approval, Bouresli said in an interview with KUNA.
"The purchase of such tankers aims at bolstering ties with Equate Company which specializes in producing petrochemicals materials," Bouresli said.
The official noted the KOTC has extensive experience spreading to 53 years in the field of transferring oil and liquid gas.
If the studies have been approved, new horizons for the company's work will open, he said, regretting lack of national shipping tankers for carrying such products.
