Russ ferry’s maiden trip starts July 2nd, to serve the Baltic line

Regular services of a passenger ferry ‘Russ’ is due to begin on July 2nd on the route St. Petersburg - Helsinki - Stockholm - Tallinn – St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg Transport and Transit Policy Committee press service reports quoting its Chairmen Nikolai Asaul, speaking at the official ceremony of the launch of the S-Sontinental cruise line.

Mr. Asaul expects as well the locals as the Russian and foreign tourists to be among the passengers of the cruise line."We have everything needed to accommodate the passenger ferries and cruise ships of the largest size, as we have all the necessary facilities and legislative opportunities for that,” Nikolai Asaul said.

The freight and passenger ferry ‘Russ’ was purchased to serve cruise lines. The vessel has been upgraded, the cabins have been remodeled, some of the cabins doubled. The cruiser initially could have 400 passengers on board, now - 236. The ferry has been tailored to the passengers’ convenience and comfort. The cruiser operator offers for passengers 115 cabins of different class: 93 - standard, 22 - improved and 3 luxury cabins.

There are a nightclub, two restaurants, six bars, two shops, a spa complex, sauna and swimming pool on the ship. The ferry’s has 100 crew members on board.

From July the ferry will be sailing weekly leaving St. Petersburg on Friday evening, to arrive on Sunday to Helsinki, on Saturday to Stockholm, on Monday, Tallinn, and return on Tuesday morning to St. Petersburg. The cruise line services include excursions for the passengers at the ports of arrival. The cruise operator provides entertainments for passengers on the ship. The ferry is not intended to carry autos and other cargoes.
