Ukrainian Transport Ministry names harbormaster of Yuzhny Port

Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine appointed yesterday Alexander Lagosha the new acting head of the port of Yuzhny (Ukraine), CEO of Avlita CJSC, the Port’s statement said. Former acting head of the state-owned port, Vadim Parkhomenko was appointed First Deputy Chief of the Port’s Investment and Development Department.

Alexander Lagosha has said, commenting on his appointment, that "the Transport Ministry has entrusted me, as the port’s new head, with a clear and understandable task.

"This is, primarily, the increase of traffic volume passing via the port and improvement of the company’s financial performance. I believe that my knowledge in finance and successful experience in management of the port industry as well as the port capacity and professionalism of the workforce will not only help to successfully meet all the challenges we face, but also will contribute to further growth of Yuzhny Port and to strengthen its position in the industry " Mr. Lagosha was quoted as saying.

Alexander Lagosha was born on June 21, 1973. In 1995 he received a higher technical education. From 1995 to 2007 he worked for financial departments of various companies and organizations. Mr. Lagosha was holding the office of Chief Financial Officer of Avlita Stevedoring Company (part of Metinvest Holding owned by Rinat Akhmetov) from 2007 until April 2008, then until recently,  the CEO of Avlita SC (Sevastopol).
