Russian Ministry of Development approves Murmansk Transport Hub boundaries

Russian Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) has approved the project of boundaries of territory allocated for federal projects capital construction of the Murmansk Transport Hub (MTH). According to the document signed by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Sergei Yurpalov, the MTH boundaries project, proposed by the Ministry of Transport, was adopted with minor adjustments in the borders of the three settlements of the Murmansk region: Minkino, Mishukovo, Mezhdurechye. The document was signed on June 16, 2010.

The Ministry of Economic Development has also agreed on the boundaries project ten days ago.

Thus, the Russian Ministry of Transport in due course will approve the zones boundaries of the projected MTH’s facilities. The lands will be handed over to Rosmorrechflot, Rosavtodor and Roszheldorom of the Ministry of Transport accordance with the order of the Government of the Russian Federation of December 8, 2008 N1821-r "On the realization of a comprehensive investment project "Development of the Murmansk Transport Hub".

The MRD’s approval enables the Russian Ministry of Transportation and the Federal Rostransmodernizatsiya to invite bids for the state contract for the development of project documentation for the second-phase project "Integrated Development of the MTH.

The Murmansk Transport Hub project includes the building of a container terminal with a capacity of 350,000 TEUs expandable to 1 million TEUs a year. The containers will be transported by railroad.

The Integrated Development of the Murmansk Transport Hub project was listed in the Federal target programs:  "Modernization of Transport System of Russia (2002-2010)", "Development of Transport System of Russia (2010-2015).
