The dredger SB500/400 (1-516 project) of capacity of 500 cub.m./hour, built at the Plant Nizhny Novgorod ship, was commissioned on August 12 by the Commission of the Federal Volga FBD, the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport of Russia (Rosmorrechflot) statement said.
The dredger was named ‘Engineer Filkov’ after Vladimir Filkov, a hydraulic engineer, former Chief of the State Department of waterways and hydraulic structures, the Deputy Minister of the river fleet of the Russian Federation.
The vessel will be used for dredging some areas of the Lower Volga river.
Plant Nizhny Novgorod Ship JSC is located in the Bor town (Nizhny Novgorod Region). The factory specializes in building technical and auxiliary vessels, harbor equipment and marine engineering products. The enterprise is capable to construct 135-meter long 15000DWT vessels.
