The German liner company’s supervisory board also appointed Praestensgaard, 46, to its executive board as of Jan. 1, when he takes over as CCO.
Praestensgaard will be responsible for Hapag-Lloyd’s marketing and sales. He has more than 20 years of experience in liner shipping. He worked in various senior positions for Maersk Line, most recently as Singapore-based chief executive of the Asia-Pacific region with responsibility for all liner shipping activities in Southeast Asia as well as Australia and New Zealand.
“Jesper Praestensgaard’s appointment as CCO represents a systematic continuation of our strategy of constantly boosting our activities in the Marketing/Sales field so as to be invariably able to offer our customers optimal service in a rapidly changing market,” said Michael Behrendt, chairman of the executive board of Hapag-Lloyd.
Along with chairman and CEO Michael Behrendt, the other members of the executive board are Ulrich Kranich, chief operation officer, and CFO Peter Ganz.
