Consolidated cargo turnover of Russian stevedoring companies grew 2.9%, or 8.8 million tons, in January-September 2006 to 311 million tons including 129.5 million tons of dry cargo (+0.2%) and 181.87 million tons of liquid bulk cargo (+5%), quarterly survey of Association of Commercial Seaports reads. Total volume of cargo handled by Russian ports is divided into 82% of export, 7.4% of import, 4.7% of transit and 5.8% of coastal trade. The ports of the North-Western Basin handled 142 million tons (+7.3%), Southern – 118.7 million tons (+1.5%), Far Eastern – 50.7 million tons (- 4.7%). Over 43% of cargo were delivered to the ports by railway, 45.6% - by pipe systems, while the shares of motor, river and sea transport were 5.92%, 3% and 2.2% correspondingly.
