NYK holds Tokyo seminar on piracy in Gulf of Aden

Japanese shipping giant NYK, with the support of the Japanese Shipowners' Association, recently held a seminar in Tokyo on piracy in the Gulf of Aden attended by 220 from the foreign and transport ministries, the coast guard, other shipping lines and sundry maritime organisations, the Japan Corporate News agency.
An unidentified speaker from the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which operates a vessel positioning system and maintains law in the area, addressed the group, providing an in-depth backgrounder on piracy and best measures of defence.
Gareth Derrick of the British Embassy in Tokyo and the UKMTO special guest speaker also visited NYK president Koji Miyahara, who asked for their continuing support for safe navigation.
