In January-September, 2008, the port of Nakhodka handled 12.026.9 MILLION TONNES OF CARGO (+23.9%, year-on-year). In the reported period transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 7.098.5 million tonnes (+29.4%, year-on-year) including 1.709.0 million tonnes of dry bulk and loose cargo (up 26.1 times, year-on-year). Transshipment of ore increased 4.7-fold to 270,700 tonnes, coal –170-fold to 1.292.1 million tonnes. Transshipment of timber totaled 726,900 tonnes of timber (2.8 times down against the same period of the previous year). Transshipment of round timber fell 3.4 times to 498,400, sawn timber – down by 36.2%, year-on-year, to 228,500 tonnes. In January-September 2008, the port handled 4.485.5 million tonnes of general cargo (+40.5%) including 3.534.9 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+30.1%), 194,100 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+74%), 135,700 tonnes of scrap metal (+22.3%). Transshipment of refrigerated cargo amounted to 27,300 tonnes (-37.5%), packaged cargo – up 1.9 times to 363,900 tonnes. The port’s container throughput grew by 7.1% to 39,493 TEU. Transshipment of oil products climbed by 16.8%, year-on-year, to 4.928.4 million tonnes.
