For the fiscal year ended June 30, total container throughout at the port rose by 8.3 percent year-over-year to 1.38 million TEUs. Cargo volume handled by South Carolina’s ports increased across all segments, the South Carolina State Ports Authority reported Tuesday.
South Carolina’s non-container cargo segment increased 32.3 percent within the same period. Breakbulk cargo handled at Charleston and Georgetown totaled 991,705 tons for the year, with growth in vehicle, project cargo, heavy lift, bulk and traditional breakbulk cargoes.
