Mariupol port throughput slips 6 percent to 8.43 million tons

Cargo traffic at Port of Mariupol in January-July 2011 declined by 6 percent from the same period a year ago, to 8.433 million tons, the Ukrainian News reported.

In July, the port’s cargo throughput continued downward trend in five straight months, falling 8.4 percent from a year earlier, to 1.282 million tons.

SE Mariupol Commercial Sea Port is one of four major ports of Ukraine. The port is located in the north-west of Taganrog Bay of the Azov Sea. The port can accommodate 12m-draft, 240m-long vessels. The waterfront is is 3.9 km. The total area of indoor warehouses is 11.8ths sqm, of outdoor facility - 240.9ths sqm.
