The nine-month container traffic of Transgarant surged by 34 percent from a year earlier to 108,000 TEUs, the company said.
Shipments of general cargo increased by 5.5% year-on-year to 19.2 million tons.
In the reporting period, Transgarant hauled by its own and leased rail cars 9.1 million tons of coal (+7%), 1.4 million tons of lime (+11%), 1.2 million tons of metals (+38%), 977,000 tons of rubble (+6%), 378,000 tons of cement (+38%), 337,000 tons of paper (+13%), 327,000 tons of timber cargo (a twofold growth).
In Jan-Sept., the company operated a fleet of 17,048 cars, 8 percent more than a year earlier.
"The growth was due to an increase in imports / exports and domestic shipments of containerized cargo. Effective management of a fleet of container platforms, most of which are involved in the express container trains, has enabled us to reduce significantly the car turnover and, consequently, increase the volume of transported containers," Transgarant press release said.
