Two barges "Sosnovka-1" and "Sosnovka-2", built at Kirov region-based Sosnowski Shipyard have arrived at the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the regional administration said.

For acceptance of the barges KamchatTransFlot dispatched two crews to Vladivostok where the Sosnovka-1 and Sosnovka-2 were delivered by heavy lift ship HHL Hamburg. Then the vessels set out for the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

"In the near future, Rosimushchestv (Federal Property Management Agency) will prepare the paperwork to transfer the ownership of barges to the Kamchatka region authorities. In November and December of this year, the barges will be operating off the coast of Kamchatka," Deputy Prime Minister of Kamchatka regional government Viktor Pisarenko said.

The official said that the Sosnovka-1 and the Sosnovka-2 will be carrying cargoes along the east and west coasts of the peninsula.

The sea-going Ro-Ro self-propelled barges "Sosnovka-1 and" Sosnovka-2" are 42 m in length and are able to carry 250 tons each. The vessels are intended for transportation of general cargo, bulk cargo, containers, wheeled and tracked vehicles.

The construction of DCV47 project vessels was funded through the Federal Target Program "Economic and Social Development of the Far East and TransBaikalia until 2013."

The keel-laying of Sosnovka-1, a lead ship of the series, was held on 13 January 2010. The vessel was commissioned on August 6, 2011.
