Container throughput of St. Petersburg-based Neva-Metal for 10 months of this year rose by 7% compared with the same period last year, to 35,000 TEUs, the terminal owner said.
According to Severstal Group, the terminal’s total throughput for the period did not change on last year’s figure, at 1.8 million tons.
Handling of general cargo at the terminal rose as much as 1.5 times, to 90,000 tons, transshipment of grab bulk and suction cargo increased by 15% over the same period last year, to about 50,000 tons.
Ferrous metals of Cherepovetsk-based Metallurgical Plant "Severstal" account for more than 70% (some 1.3 million tons) of the ten-month freight volume handled by Neva-Metal.
CJSC Neva-Metal is a division of Cherepovetsk Severstal. Neva-Metal specializes in handling ferrous metals exported by Cherepovetsk Severstal, secondary metals from Severstal-Vtormet and containerized cargo at the berths located in the 3rd Cargo Area at Big Port St. Petersburg. Throughput of the stevedoring company in 2010 amounted to 2.374 million tons.
