Freight One oil products traffic up 35 percent in October

Freight One company boosted oil product shipments in the Far East this October by 35% year-over-year to 360,000 tons, the company said.

Monthly volume of diesel fuel delivered by FO for diesel power stations in remote regions in Yakutia, Kamchatka and the Far East doubled on last year’s October, to 67,500 tons. The company increased shipment of aviation fuel to International Airport of Vladivostok as the shippers demand soared 48 percent (to 7,100 tons).

In addition, over 12,000 tons of oil products were delivered to the Sakhalin region, including the supply, both from the mainland, as well as transportation from the stations of Sakhalin region of the Far Eastern Railroad.

JSC Freight One, formed in 2007 by state-owned monopoly Russian Railways (RZD), is now a leading provider of rail transportation in Russia. Until recently, RZD was a 100% owner of its rail arm. In November, Russian steel tycoon V. Lisin won the auction (through UCLH) and acquired 75 percent minus two shares of Freight One in a $4.2 bn deal. Currently, FO owns and operates a fleet of over 200,000 units of rolling stock. In 2010, the rail operator carried 302.3 million tons of different cargoes.
