Macduff bags tug design contract from Turkish shipyard

In November 2011, Torgem Shipbuilding Ind & Trade AS, Tuzla, Istanbul, Turkey placed an order with Macduff for the design of a 23m tug. Based on the 3 vessels on order in China for Poet of Singapore this new order will also be equipped with the Mampaey DOT system, the design firm's press release said.


With a bollard pull of 30 tonnes the vessel has been ordered by NUR Shipping and Trade, part of the KATPAN group. Macduff have been cooperating with Torgem for the last two years and both company's are delighted that this order has been placed.

Torgem shipyard based in Tuzla province of Istanbul specializes in the construction of of modern vessels. The firm also provides services for repair,conversions,annual surveys, machinery, overhauls, steel work, renewals and all kinds of mega-yacht building. A total number of 88 vessels have been built by TORGEM Shipyard resulting a tonnage of 400.000DWT
