NCSP Group's cargo throughput climbs 0.7 percent in Jan-Oct

Cargo traffic at the terminals of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group (NCSP Group)in January-October, 2011 increased by 866,000 tons, or 0.7 percent year-on-year, to 129,712,000 tons, the Group's statistics show.

The ten-month volume of liquid bulk cargo rose 1.6 percent from a year earlier, to 1,713,000 tons. Exports of crude oil from NCSP oil terminals fell 1.5% year-on-year, to 93 513 thousand tons.
 
Volumes of oil products transshipment across the Group increased during the reporting period by 31.2% or by 3 338 thousand tons. The total volume of oil products handled during the reporting period amounted to 14 019 thousand tons, of which 4 373 tons attributed to diesel transshipment by Primorsk Trade Port Ltd via the two berths rented by the Group since January 2011.

In January-October, 2011 the Group handled 3 997 thousand tons of grain in total.
Growth was also recorded in other bulk cargoes: iron ore and ore concentrate (+769 thousand tons or 43.3%), mineral fertilizers (+133 thousand tons or 7.7%) and sugar (+153 thousand tons or 11.2%).

General cargo turnover in the ten months of 2011 totaled 7 732 thousand tons, representing a -13.8% or 1 237  thousand tons reduction versus the same period of last year. Volumes of timber (-452 thousand tons or -47.6%) and ferrous metals (-832 thousand tons or -12.4%) decreased due to general turmoil in the global markets and the resulting decrease in demand from key consumers of Russian timber and metals.

The volume of non-ferrous metals transshipment in the ten months of 2011 increased by 2.8% or 25.5 thousand tons compared to the same period of 2010, amounting to 942 thousand tons.
In the ten months of 2011 Group’s container traffic in TEU terms increased by 31.2% versus the same period of last year and totaled 490 thousand TEU.

It should be noted that the operating results of the Group in October 2011 were influenced by weather conditions in Novorossiysk. As a result of storm wind loading operations were delayed in October for 16 vessels, which led to the transfer of transshipment of a certain amount of cargo from October 2011 to November 2011.

Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port is the largest Russian port operator and the 3rd operator in Europe in terms of cargo turnover. NCSP shares are traded on Russia's MICEX exchange (NMTP) and on the London Stock Exchange in the form of GDRs (NCSP). NCSP Group consolidated cargo turnover in the 1st half of 2011 totaled 76.8 million tons, and consolidated revenue to IFRS for the 1st half of 2011 totaled $494.1 million and net profit of $308.0 million. NCSP Group combines the following stevedore companies: OJSC Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port, PJSC Primorsk Trade Port (since 2011), PJSC Novorossiysk Grain Terminal, OJSC Novorossiysk Shipyard, PJSC Fleet of NCSP, OJSC NLE, OJSC IPP, and Baltic Stevedoring Company Ltd.
