DSME has signed a memorandum of understanding with Dassault Systemes Korea, a world leader in 3D Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), to apply the PLM system in the field of wind power, DSME said on Monday.
Through this MOU, DSME intends to apply Dassault's PLM system to its wind power division as well as implementing new enterprises which will assist in innovation for production and design processes.
PLM is a systematic management system for information and processes from the design stage through to the production and application stages. This system also includes other data such as product information, management of servers, and network systems.
The main purpose of adopting the Dassault PLM system is that it becomes possible to administrate projects among the various DSME members located all around the world so it overcomes any limitations imposed by geography. Additionally, it is easier to minimize the taking of risks when starting to investigate new enterprises by considering and analyzing riskiness using the Dassault system.
DSME expects that this system will increase work efficiency by adopting a total data management system and establishing a no-drawing production condition by making digital models based on 3D technology during the design stage.
DSME will apply the PLM system to the wind power division first because the wind power enterprise requires global cooperation. DSME plans to spread this system into submarines and warships before establishing PLM in the fields of design and production.
