Port of Tacoma to dredge terminal due to sediment

Port of Tacoma, in Washington state, plans to dredge one of its main container terminal, as sediments have made it difficult for vessels to dock, reported World Maritime News.
The port has conducted tests of water adjacent to the pier, which have shown that depth is reduced due to sediments around piers three and four. The port is obliged to keep the depth at the terminals at more than 51 ft at low tide, under a lease with Japanese shipping company “K’’ Line.
Port of Tacoma will spend US$1.5 million on the dredging.
